Thank you very much for your comment. Unfortunately we have not yet tested electrochemical anodizing by pre-etching, we have only polished and degreased the copper foil before anodizing. Your work looks quite interesting, I think that anodizing could be perfectly complemented with a chemical etching, due to the benefit in the morphology of the nanoparticles that could provide the nucleation points obtained during etching.

Have you proved this approach with chemical etching?
We obtained ZnO needles by TO (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.mssp.2019.104888).
